Thanks for the post. Just curious, are you aware of any code/script that has the same exact functionality but doesn’t have their branding and link on it? i.e. run off of my own server 100%?

You should run OPTIMIZE TABLE `wp_commentmeta` after you dump akismet crap because otherwise it will still occupy the same size as before.

What makes WP stands out is that it is very user friendly and I am lucky that my hosting company has an easy install WP features. Though I am not yet an expert in WP it makes the installation a total breeze.
